About Glynn Barker

I use the ever changing Yorkshire landscape as a major source of inspiration and at present work predominantly with oil paint, applied with painting knives, on stretched block canvas.

Early training as an illustrator gave me valuable insight into the technical processes of line, tone , colour and perspective, whereas later formal art training afforded me the freedom to explore more creative avenues.

My first painting entitled 'Early Spring, Kidd Lane Welton' was bought by the Beverley Art Gallery and remains in the gallery's permanent collection.  It can be viewed through the gallery's own website by entering the artist's name.  I renewed my acquaintance with the Beverley Art Gallery by entering a painting entitled 'Beverley, St Mary's' into the 2012/2013 Open Exhibition.  This painting won the Peoples Choice award by receiving the largest number of public votes (although this painting is shown in the accompanying gallery, it was sold at that exhibition so is no longer available).

My work appears in various public and private collections in the UK and abroad including the USA, South Africa and Europe.
